Course Offerings
The following courses are offered in Polish language instruction:
- Polish 101: Elementary Polish I (Autumn Quarter)
- Polish 102: Elementary Polish II (Winter Quarter)
- Polish 103: Intermediate Polish I (Spring Quarter)
- Polish 104: Intermediate Polish II (Autumn Quarter)
- Polish 405: Polish Conversation and Composition I (Winter Quarter)
- Polish 407: Polish Conversation and Composition II (Spring Quarter)
- Polish 409: Polish Conversation and Composition III
Besides language courses, there are many courses offered in Polish Culture and Literature, including:
- Polish 245: Polish Culture in the European Context
- Polish 630: Polish Literature until 1900
- Polish 631: Polish Literature Since 1900
Why Learn Polish?

Do you know that Polish is used by approximately 50 million people in the world? It is one of the most frequently spoken Slavic languages. Many people of Polish origin live in USA, Canada, Brazil and many other countries.

Poland is a great touristy destination. Polish people are proud of their history and care about it. You can find in Poland fascinating mediaeval castles, churches and other historic buildings. And in many places in Poland you can really enjoy pureness of nature!

Poland is an interesting country due to its location. Situated between "east" and "west" it offers interesting cultural diversity.

Poland welcomes English native speakers and offers them lots of job opportunities. Polish market undergoes intensive development and is open for creative people!

Names of many Poles appear in history of art and many of them contributed to development of science, for example Fryderyk Chopin, Maria Curie-Sklodowska and Joseph Conrad.

learning Polish enables you to explore fascinating Polish culture. Polish poets such as Wislawa Szymborska (Nobel prize winner), Czeslaw Milosz or Zbigniew Herbert are recognized worldwide. There are many well known Polish directors, for example Agnieszka Holland ("Angry harvest", "Europa, Europa") and Krzysztof Kieslowski ("The Decalogue", "Three colors").
