The Russian Minor

Prerequisites: (20 credits)
101-104 in any Slavic Language

Required Courses (10 credits): Russian 405: Russian Conversation and Composition I (5 credits) Russian 407: Russian Conversation and Composition II (5 credits)

Concentration Courses:

An additional 10 credit hours may be chosen from the list below. The restrictions on those choices are as follows:

     1. Only one course at the 100 or 200-level may be applied toward the minor.
     2. No more than 5 credit hours of EM credit may be applied toward the minor.

Russian 250: Masterpieces of Russian Literature in Translation (5 credits)
Russian 360: Russian Dreams and Nightmares: The Modern Russian Experience Through Film (5 credits)
Russian 520: Russian Literature in Translation: Pushkin to Turgenev (5 credits)
Russian 521: Russian Literature in Translation: Dostoevsky to Chekhov (5 credits)
Russian 522: 20th Century Russian Literature in Translation: 1900-1928 (5 credits)
Russian 523: 20th Century Russian Literature in Translation: 1928-2000 (5 credits)
Russian 640: Introduction to the Structure of Russian (5 credits)
Russian 644: Russian Folklore (5 credits)
Russian 650: Dostoevsky (5 credits)
Russian 651: Tolstoy (5 credits)
Russian 653: Russian Drama (5 credits)
Russian 656: Russian Women Writers (5 credits)
Russian 664: Studies in 20th Century Russian Literature (5 credits, repeatable)
Russian 697: Study at a Foreign Institution (1-15 credits)

Occasionally substitutions may be made with other 500-700 level courses within the department. Special approval is required to apply course credit from outside the department towards a student's concentration.
