Bosnian-Croatian-Serbian Courses

Attention! Students who have learned any Bosnian-Croatian-Serbian (BCS) outside of a university setting, including as a home language, while living abroad, or through study at the pre-college level, are required to take the EM/placement test prior to enrolling in Bosnian-Croatian-Serbian courses at OSU. Students who have studied Bosnian-Croatian-Serbian at a different university or as part of a summer program may be eligible for transfer credit. Learn more about transfer and placement.

Elementary Bosnian-Croatian-Serbian I

Offered: Autumn | 4 credit units

Introduction to Bosnian-Croatian-Serbian language; basic skills in reading, listening, writing, and speaking, in addition to an introduction to Balkan cultures. Not open to native speakers of this language through regular course enrollment or EM credit, or to students with 3 or more years of study in this language in high school, except by permission of dept. Intermediate Bosnian-Croatian-Serbian I

Continued development of reading and listening comprehension skills, writing and speaking skills that were covered in 1102. Prereq: 1102 or 5 cr hrs of 102.51 or permission of instructor. Not open to native speakers of this languages through regular course enrollment or EM credit. GE for foreign language course.


Bosnian-Croatian-Serbian 2104

Intermediate Bosnian-Croatian-Serbian II

Offered: Spring | 4 credit units

Continuation of 1103; development of the four skills of reading, listening, writing, and speaking. Further familiarization Balkan cultures. Prereq: 1103 or 5 cr hrs of 1103.51 or equiv or permission of instructor. Not open to students with credit for 104 or 111; or to native speakers of this language through regular course enrollment or EM credit. GE for foreign language course.

Advanced Bosnian-Croatian-Serbian I

Further develop speaking, reading, writing skills, and grammar competence. Prereq: 2104. Not open to studnet with credit for Slavic 5194 (Autumn 2013, Mihalicek)
