Congratulations to DSEELC graduate student Anastasia Kostetskaya, who has accepted a tenure-track position as Assistant Professor of Russian at the University of Hawai'i!

Before settling in in the middle of the ocean Anastasia is going to defend her dissertation on May 2nd. In her thesis, "The Water of Life and the Life of Water: The Metaphor of World Liquescence in the Poetry, Painting and Film of the Russian Silver Age" she explores a metaphorical blend which fuses domains of people and water.

Anastasia is excited to join the Department of Languages and Literatures of Europe and the Americas in August and looks forward to collaborating with colleagues from various disciplines across UH Manoa campus to raise awareness of Russia as an important part of the Asia-Pacific region.
