End-of-year awards and Spring Tea

On April 15, 2014, the the Slavic Department and the Slavic Center held the traditional end-of-year Spring Tea. In addition to good food provided by the Center (and terrible weather that forced us indoors), a variety of awards were given out to undergraduate and graduate students in recognition of their excellent scholarship and/or service during the 2013-2014 academic year:

Dr. Miriam G. Schwartz Award for excellence in scholarship, given to an undergraduate majoring in Russian: Stevie Lundell, Zach Nelson, and Michael Furman

Melanie and Phillippe Radley Award, a merit-based award for undergraduates majoring in Russian: Asha Underiner and Jon Harris

Talvi Award for excellence in research, service, and/or teaching activities by a graduate student: Ana Kabakova

Frank M. Buzek Award for an undergraduate junior majoring in Russian or Slavic Studies who energizes his/her instructors' teaching and makes extraordinary contributions to the classroom environment: Noah Nguyen

Pushkin Award for excllenece in scholarship, given to an undergraduate majoring in Russian: Ian Barlow, Tom Nitz and Cooper Townshend

Uprka-Laga-Schweitzer Award, given to an undergraduate or graduate student to support intellectual activities related to Czech studies: Haley Ritzert

Congratulations also to the new Dobro Slovo Slavic Honors Society inductees: Ian Barlow, Morgan Freisthler, Jon Harris, Thomas Nitz, Ryan Perkins, and Hope Wilson
