Here at the Slavic Department we are constantly striving to create and sustain global connections between people, institutions, and cultures. This spring, one of the Department's Senior Lecturers and Bosnian-Croatian-Serbian instructor, Dr. Matthew Boyd, had an opportunity to foster such a connection.

Dr. Boyd's expertise in South Slavic culture and media ecology gave Bri Bagshaw, a Slavic Minor and 1st-year Bosnian-Croatian-Serbian student who is a super-fan of a Slovene band called "Joker Out", a chance to connect with Slavic culture both as a fan and as a student.

Together, our professor and student have created a fantastic interview with a unique band, illustrating the real life application of Slavic studies in our modern lives.

Be sure to check out Part 1 of "#MusicMonday Interview with Joker Out"  on the Center for Slavic, East European, and Eurasian Studies website.

Joker Out, formed in 2016, is a five-member indie rock band from Ljubljana, Slovenia. Joker Out have released two studio albums, participated in the Eurovisian Song Contest, and continue to tour across the Balkans, Central, and Western Europe. Learn more at Jokeroutband.com!
