OSU Faculty and Staff Awarded Best SEEJ Article Cluster
Congratulations to SEELC faculty and staff, Drs. Burry, Hashamova, Rucker-Chang and Stepanova, as well as the former Slavic Center Assistant Director Eileen Kunkler, for being awarded the Slavic and East European Journal (SEEJ) "Best SEEJ Article Cluster" for their cluster "Racialization and Race Studies in Russian and Eastern European Scholarship." The SEEJ Editorial Board convenes annually to determine the winners of the journal awards. Board Member Dr. Sibelan Forrester of Swarthmore College offered the below comments commending the cluster:
"This cluster opens with a subtle, richly supported, and yet frank introduction that points out the very late arrival of (most) scholars of Slavic and East European arts, language, literature, music, and linguistics to work on racialization and race studies, and that provides a valuable bibliography for readers who need to catch up. The articles in the cluster offer valuably detailed and insightful approaches to a variety of literary, cinematic, and pedagogical topics, many of them recent, spread over a wide range of geographic and cultural locations. This rewarding cluster suggests that our field is ready to make progress—and shows that some of our colleagues are already making it."
