SEELC Chair Angela Brintlinger Receives Harlan Hatcher Arts and Sciences Distinguished Faculty Award

The faculty, students, and staff at Department of Slavic and East European Languages and Cultures offer Dr. Brintlinger the warmest congratulations on being named the 2024‑25 Harlan Hatcher Arts and Sciences Distinguished Faculty Award recipient!
The Hatcher Award recognizes a full professor in the College of Arts and Sciences who, over a period of years, has developed a truly exceptional record in teaching, research, scholarly/creative work, and service. We cannot think of anyone more deserving of this award.
Dr. Brintlinger's scholarship has long been a touchstone in Slavic studies, but what truly sets her apart is how fully she inhabits every role you take on: professor, department chair, and director of CSEEES. Whether guiding students through their research, or negotiating another round of budget puzzles, Dr. Brintlinger does it with equal parts rigor, grace, and, somehow, good humor.
These are challenging days for humanities departments everywhere. Yet in the midst of shrinking resources and shifting priorities, she has kept our Slavic Department community vibrant—securing new partnerships, mentoring students, and championing languages that risk being pushed to the sidelines.
We hope you join us in congratulating our Chair on this extraordinary achievement!
