Ohio State Students Succeed at the Saint Petersburg State University Olympiad of Russian as a Foreign Language

Many of our Russian language students participated in the Saint Petersburg State University (St. Petersburg, Russia) Olympiad of Russian as a Foreign Language in the USA. The  Olympiad competition consisted of two stages. Stage one included grammar and vocabulary questions as well as reading assignments. After successful completion of the first stage, these students were moved to the second stage, which consisted of an oral interview with representatives from Saint Petersburg State University. There were 155 students competing in the event from colleges and universities all across the United States. From these 155 students, 19 were awarded first prize, 7 were awarded second prize, and 23 were awarded third prize.

The following Ohio State students successfully placed in their respective level competitions:

Level A2

  • Alejandra Schwarz – 3rd prize
  • Wesley Harmon – 3rd prize
  • Robby Creed –  3rd prize

Level B1

  • Margot Hare – 2nd prize
  • Bailey Wolfe – 2nd prize

Level B1

  • Sara Hohman – 1st prize
  • Kelila Thomsen – 1st prize
